Eagle Scout Project: Isaiah 117 House Bag Donation

  • FUMC Pearland 2314 North Grand Boulevard Pearland, TX, 77581 United States (map)

My name is Garrett Rasmussen, and I am a Life Scout with Troop 464. I am currently working on my Eagle Rank and as part of that journey, I've chosen an Eagle Project that I truly believe will make a difference in the lives of children in foster care.

My project is focused on supporting the local Isaiah 117 House, a place where children stay while awaiting placement in their foster homes. To help ease their transition, I am working to collect 100 new duffle bags, backpacks, or other bags to donate. These bags will be given to the children, ensuring they have something of their own to carry their belongings as they move into their new homes.

Isaiah 117 House has specifically requested that all donated bags be new, not used, as many of these children have never owned anything brand new before. This simple gesture can make a significant impact, offering them a fresh start and a sense of dignity in an uncertain time.

To make this collection as accessible as possible, I will be placing a collection box in the Family Life Center and Sanctuary on May 18 and June 8. You can also purchase pre-selected bags directly on Amazon at the link below or we will gladly accept monetary donations, which will allow me to purchase bags on behalf of donors.

This project is about more than just collecting bags—it's about showing children in foster care that they are valued, that their journey matters, and that our community supports them.
